When Life Throws You Curves, Keep Eating Raw...

Food is Love:
Breakfast/Lunch
a ripe Bosc pear

32 ounces lemon water

Snacks:
10 Brazil nuts
Raw Revolution chocolate Hazelnut bar

Dinner:
salad with romaine, avocado, carrot, radish, sprouts, dulse and nutritional yeast with olive oil, stone ground mustard and sea salt
large portobella mushroom marinated 24 hours in Bragg's

Dessert:
bowl of Organic Nectars chocolate Hazelnut ice cream

24 ounces water

Yesterday my clutch on my car stopped working; today I spent most of my day focused on setting it up for repair in the best manner possible. A few days ago my hot water heater stopped working; the plumber will be back tomorrow to change the elements while my car is in the shop.
I borrowed my friend Karyn's car and showered at her place :)
Here's the point: Part of life is the stuff of life. It happens; it comes in cycles. The question is: Who do we want to be through it all? How do we want to show up for ourselves?
When the first automotive center quoted me the price to fix my car, I remembered to breathe and say, "All is OK. What are my options?" Options materialized. During the day of navigating all the phone calls, picking up my car, having it towed, calling back the plumber....and knowing that neither my taxes nor my book were getting focused on, I did remember to:
Thank my car for never having had any issues besides this and for how it has served me so well
Thank the mechanic who quoted me one quarter of my first quote
Thank my friend for loaning me her car so I could get to the office for a counseling session and stop at the market
Thank the automotive place for teaching me how to drive a stick without a clutch yesterday, so that I could get back home when my car got stuck
Thank the automotive place for having a towing service tow me home today at no cost
Thank myself for remembering that this is merely the stuff of life

I also did not:
Drown my anxiety and tension in foods that would not serve me
I remembered to:
Keep my food clean and high level so that I could stay clear, focused and filled with energy

I even smiled and thanked all my keepers for the flow of it all.

When life throws you curves, don't head for the Ben & Jerry's. The sugar will wack you out more.
If you really want Ben & Jerry's, have it sometime when you are choosing it from love; not from fear or anxiety.
When we choose foods from love (even non-raw), they digest, assimilate and nourish our bodies. No matter what you choose, from Rejuvelac (a fermented probiotic drink) to coffee, choose it and taste it with ecstatic love and excitement.
Remember: You are never 'good' or 'bad' for what you eat; you are merely choosing; so choose what honors your body and feeds your spirit.
Write in and let me know what choices served you today...

Today I shared a veggie pizza and merlot with a friend. It was definitely quite a different experience than when I have gravitated towards these foods for medication purposes. They were consumed with love, joy, and in great company - no guilt!

Julie, what a fabulous share for our readers! I can taste the veges on your pizza and the wine going down like silk! Most importantly, as you said, you were not self-medicating with food; you were in a great relationship with your food and your friend.
